About Austin Dermatology Clinic

Austin Dermatology Clinic, P.A. was founded in 1978 by Dr. Michael Coverman. In 1981, he opened the first physician-supervised skin care clinic salon and spa in all of Central Austin. This was the first such clinic with a Dermatologist as Director and present at all times. Because of Dr. Covermanís concern that his patients have access to the newest and best treatments that he feels are safe, worthwhile, and cost-effective, he has now expanded to a full-time staff of 13, offering medical and cosmetic dermatology procedures in a state-of-the-art facility.

Our practice is located in Northwest Austin just north of the Arboretum area on Hwy 183. We are just one quarter mile north of Seton Northwest Hospital. Our practice is contained in a lovely park-like setting with ìdrive upî parking. Our office has been freshly remodeled and all of our lasers were the first of their kind in the Austin area. All are maintained under original factory service contracts, and all are re-calibrated and serviced annually for your safety. We use only materials and parts supplied by the manufacturers - we never use any third party products like you might find in some "salons."

You will find our office warm, comfortable, safe, and pleasant. Dr. Coverman is proud of the artwork exhibited throughout the office - he has extensive paintings from his father, his daughters, and himself and there is an outstanding collection of black and white photography. Exam rooms are likewise comfortable, clean, and meet all OSHA standards.

Dr. Coverman is particularly proud that his staff stays with him. They like the working in this environment too: we all get to know each other better, and both staff and patients are considered family. Various employees have been with Dr. Coverman since 1984, 1989, and 1995. This makes for a more friendly atmosphere for all, as well as for better communication between staff, Dr. Coverman, and his patients. Many of our patients call and ask to speak to our staff members by name.

Dr. Coverman has always been known as a ìpioneerî in Austin regarding new technology and services. He maintains accreditation through the CME program of the American Academy of Dermatology, and the American Medical Association. Our recommendations are always based upon your individualized skin care needs - this expertise is not available in any department store or salon.

STAFF

JENNIFER JORDAN, Physician Assistant to Dr. Coverman

Dr. Coverman is proud and pleased to announce that Jennifer Jordan, MS, PA-C has joined his practice as a Physician Assistant. He has known Jennifer for many years and watched her progress through the University of Texas in Austin where she obtained her Bachelor of Science in Nutrition. She was a member of the Alpha Lambda Delta National Honor Society and the Golden Key Academic Honor Society. She attained the Dean’s List for her academic performance in 1994, and graduated with honors.

After graduation, Jennifer then attained her Masters of Science and Physician Assistant degrees at Baylor College of Medicine in December 2005. She has passed her National Board examination and has her Texas license. With Jennifer joining Dr. Coverman on our staff, we have been able to offer patients quicker and better access to our practice while maintaining the same excellent level of care.

Physician Assistants are trained and licensed to diagnose illness, write prescriptions, order and interpret lab tests, excise and suture wounds, and perform the medical and surgical treatments of a wide variety of dermatologic diseases. All Physician Assistants are legally and ethically bound to practice only with the supervision of their employing physician.

Please rest assured that your care is still managed by Dr. Coverman, and our staff will work as a team for your dermatologic concerns. Ms. Jordan will always consult Dr. Coverman with any questions or concerns about any patient and at any time. You always have the right to ask to see Dr. Coverman instead, and that request will be honored without prejudice. Ms. Jordan will be completing 100 hours of continuing medical education every two years as required in her field and is required to re-take her board exams every six years to maintain her certification. She will be attending many meetings with Dr. Coverman and taking courses with him as well as courses from her own PA society.

Christi CHRISTI GONZALES, Licensed Aesthetician

Christi is a licensed medical Aesthetician who has been employed at our office since 1989. She graduated from the Brazosport Beauty College in 1984 and trained at the Lancome Institute in New York in 1986. Christi worked for Lancome for three years at Frost Brothers in Austin as an aesthetician. She has been trained on the following:

Tammy TAMMY HUNT, Licensed Aesthetician

Tammy is a licensed medical Aesthetician who has been employed at our office since 1995. Tammy graduated from the Mount Roan Academy in 1994 and has been trained on the following:
